Biding my time
My oldest child (who is 19) is away until mid-July and I'm sewing to help make the separation easier. Here's my latest quickie creation. I always loved this bird fabric by Joel Dewberry for Westminster fabrics. I was happy to find a way to use up the few scraps that remained in my stash from this collection.

Conquering a UFO
After we started a UFO club at the shop, I decided it was time to go back and visit my stash of unfinished projects. Most of my sewing time is spent either making samples for the shop, or working on projects related to classes I am teaching there. So, it was fun going back to something I was making just for me, and finishing it
I found the pattern by Kay M. Capps Cross in the Winter 2008 Fabric Trends magazine, and while it looks amazing in black and white, I wanted something a little more earthy. Here's the project as I found it, with the top completed, paper still intact from the paper piecing sections.
I was happy with one round of red quilting, but not so happy when I started the second round. I ended up taking out the second round, and finishing off the quilting in a manner very similar to the original quilt in the magazine. Here's the finished quilt, and it's final home in my kitchen.
